Photos here feature one of the many Lions that were visiting shops in Chinatown with well wishes of Luck and Happiness as an accompanying Drummer beat along. Actually, you hear the drum beat throughout Chinatown as there were quite a number of them throughout. |
The Shaolin Kung-Fu
Institute of Hightstown, East Windsor are featured in red attire as is
the drummer in the photo below on the left. Regarding the Chinese Lunar New Year itself, this celebration takes place throughout the world over. Generally the date (as determined by the lunar calendar) would fall within January 21st and February 19th. |

| Photo above on the right is of a dragon winding its way through Chinatown's Streets. Dressed in yellow is Yee's Hung-Ga International Kung-Fu Association - Dragon and Lion Dance Team. The Lion Dancing is performed to the beat of the Gongs and Drums and is carried out through the streets of Chinatown in Lower Manhattan. | It's really quite the sight and experience to walk along the streets of this area then see a Lion Dance procession...then turn a corner and behold yet another...then turn another corner and witness yet another. It's the spirit of such festivities, of such a celebration and ritual which touches one deep inside. |
