can be found many jet fighters, vintage and otherwise.
With plaques nearby describing their history, air prowess and technical details.

Also within the Intrepid hangar is the original statue of Iwo Jima. It was created based on the famous photograph taken by Joe Rosenthal of the flag raising atop Mount Suribachi February 23, 1945. This nine foot high statue was sculpted out of plaster over a steel skeleton. You can get to see it here at the Intrepid in all its glory! There are also many contraptions, replicas and other items which truly give you an insider's feel. This image of the steering portion of a ship or rather, boat actually rocks and sways you from side to side. Be careful though, you may not have the stomach to stand within.
