City Hall and Park, NYC Photos Gallery - Page 1 |
Here is the fountain located within the 9 acre City Hall Park located beside City Hall in lower Manhattan. There are conflicting bits of info out there from different sources regarding this fountain. One source states that the Jacob Wrey Mould Fountain, removed from City Hall Park and transported to the Bronx's Crotona Park in 1920 had been restored and returned to the park in 1999. | Whereas another source mentions how this is simply an exact replica of the 1871 original, reconstructed from Jacob Wrey Mould’s designs and resting on the original fountain’s granite base. Either way, it's really beautiful at night or during the day. Photo to the right is of the clock tower which sits atop the City Hall Building roof. |
This City Hall is New York City's 3rd one. It was constructed from 1803-1812 and had undergone some restorations during the 1990's. Unfortunately there are no tours which go on within the building and the area itself has been off limits to the public since September 11, 2001. | Hopefully, it will reopen one day soon in the future. Of course, all are welcomed within the adjacent park. |
