Located on 5th Avenue between 33rd and 34th streets, the Empire State Building was once the tallest building in the world. Finished in 1931, at 1,250 ft and a total of 102 floors this NYC landmark was completed in less than 2 years.
The photo above captures this great structure from within Bryant Park in NYC.
Here is the 5th Avenue entrance to the building. Visited by thousands upon thousands each week, or each day? 'it's quite a sight in New York City and a major attraction. During its first year since opening it came to be known as the most romantic and recognizable symbol of NYC and it took in more than a million dollars which was as much as its owners made in rent.

On opening day, May 1, 1931 this building's lights were lit up by President Herbert Hoover himself as he pushed a button from his desk at the White House.
It was at this time that Franklin Roosevelt was the Governor of New York. He took in the new perspective of New York City from the 86th Floor observation deck of the Empire State Building.
