On
the day following the Blizzard of 2006 we headed on over to various locations
within Manhattan Island. Here within this page are photos taken at the
Harlem Meer located on the northern end of Central Park and oh what sights
there were! We'd always known of Swan appearing within the bodies of
water within Central Park and we've striven to catch one through photography
over the past years. Strange thing is how it takes the largest and greatest
Snow Storm in NYC recorded history to make them appear before our cameras!
Funny aye?
For those of you familiar with our fave subjects you'll know that birds of all sorts are one of them. From ducks and geese to even swan as can be seen in the photos above. On this day there wasn't just one but two of them with quite the peaceful crowd of waterfowl about them. Most of the Harlem Meer had been frozen over except for this one small section within which were all these birds. Notice how all the ducks in the last pic are pointing in the same direction. Almost as if they were organised like a flotilla readying for an attack. Or perhaps they were just enjoying the wind? I'm not sure but I didn't realise this until long after I'd taken the photo. Thing is, they weren't moving but just simply in place pointing that way |
