Lady Liberty is that landmark known the world over. She stands there out in New York Harbor atop Liberty Island and besides Ellis Island. Donated to America by France in the 1880's, the Statue of Liberty is the symbol of Freedom. At her feet are the chains of tyranny while her right hand holds the burning torch representing liberty itself. The seven extensions on her crown symbolize the seven seas and continents whilst the tablet she holds has inscribed within: July 4, 1776 which is the date of indepence for the United States. It's a huge treat for anyone to see this massive sculpture in print, but it's an even greater joy to see her in person and up close.
